Like punk, disco and skateboarding, Neil was born in the 1970s. He grew up in Bristol and Essex (South Woodham Ferrers, No. 33 in the Idler Book of Crap Towns) and New Jersey, USA. He studied English and French Literature at Bristol University and has been a TV presenter, comedian, actor and DJ. He continues to be some of these things.
